ONTARIO, Canada — Lorex Technology announces its latest product, the Lorex Home Center, a smart, all-in-one home monitoring solution the company says was designed to modernize and simplify the home security experience.

The Lorex Home Center features a touchscreen interface that connects with a variety of Lorex wireless products, allowing customers to tailor and expand their security system to meet personalized needs.

The device hosts a variety of features that focus on keeping users’ recordings and information private and secure, according to the company.

“We are incredibly excited and proud to launch the Lorex Home Center, this is something we’ve been developing for a long time and is the introduction to our highly anticipated IoT product line,” says Ilan Gershon, director of product strategy & development. “We’ve created a system that works with a multitude of Lorex products and we will continue to build upon this platform to bring more exciting features and capabilities in the foreseeable future.”

The solution allows users to control wireless cameras, door/window sensors and motion sensors all from the same screen.

The Lorex Home Center also allows users to control, view and customize settings using a touchscreen interface and the Lorex voice assistant. Using the voice assistant feature, users can control their security with voice commands like, “show me the front door camera”. Or, if a recap of the day’s events is desired, “show me all motion events from 1-3 p.m. on the backyard camera.”

“This is just the beginning of the innovative IoT home security products Lorex plans to release over the next few years,” Gershon adds. “Our customers drive us to create innovative, reliable and easy-to-use security systems that provide peace of mind, and integrate property monitoring seamlessly into their day.”

The built-in offline Lorex voice assistant is said to be completely secure, as it requires no connection to the Internet to function, adding another layer of safety and privacy. The system also has additional safeguards that keep users’ information private, including a lens cover that can be used to obscure the Home Center’s built-in camera and ability to disable recording for connected cameras when desired.

The Lorex Home Center will initially be bundled with two smart indoor/outdoor 1080p WiFi cameras. These smart cameras contain features such as two-way talk, person and vehicle detection, and color night vision.

Lorex was acquired by FLIR in 2012 in a cash deal worth about $60 million. The company was then sold to Dahua in 2018 for approximately $29 million in cash.
