MINNEAPOLIS — Milestone Systems continues to increase its range of on premise, hybrid-Cloud and Cloud-native data-driven video technology solutions with the unveiling of the new Milestone Kite video surveillance as a service (VSaaS) to complement its existing XProtect on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Revealed during its MIPS 2022 event, the company describes Milestone Kite as a simple, secure and scalable VSaaS solution for small- to medium-sized businesses, where XProtect on AWS is optimized for the enterprise market.
Milestone Kite is well-suited for single or distributed organizations that need an easy way to centrally manage all their sites in one unified system. Providing continuous access to new features with little or no maintenance effort, it is designed for businesses and enterprises with high value, less complexity and multiple geographic locations such as banks, retail chains, schools, and residential buildings, according to the company.
“Milestone understands and recognizes the importance of offering a range of hybrid-Cloud solutions to address different segments of the security market. We have been making investments in VSaaS offerings for many years to prepare for the future. As more small- to mid-sized organizations search for a Cloud-based video technology solution that is easy to deploy, simple to use, has low bandwidth requirements, is scalable across locations, and is secure — Milestone Kite becomes the most logical choice. Milestone and Arcules have now joined forces to help serve this segment of the market,” says Thomas Jensen, CEO of Milestone Systems.
Powered by the Arcules Cloud platform, Milestone Kite is said to be a simple, secure, scalable and cost-effective Cloud video management solution with integrated video analytics and access control functions. It will be available in early 2023.
“Arcules was created to be at the forefront of innovation with a focus on building a powerful, easy-to-use new Cloud offering for smaller organizations or larger organizations geographically dispersed with satellite or remote locations. What we’ve achieved is a Cloud-native solution that is future-proof, scalable and characterized by simplicity,” adds Andreas Pettersson, CEO of Arcules. “Milestone customers no longer need to physically visit multiple sites or spend time on maintenance, they can simply install the gateway and be done. Kite will automatically integrate access control data with the incoming video data to enable access-based video verification, view camera feeds, and obtain immediate situational awareness.”
Specialized Solutions for Critical Industries
Milestone also announced it is embarking on a strategy that will ultimately result in solutions that enable video technology to be a value-driver for specific industries.
Based on a deeper understanding of the customers’ objectives, needs and challenges within specific industries, Milestone says it plans to bring proven industry-specific video solutions to healthcare and hospitality over time.
Milestone’s XProtect open platform VMS is the perfect tool for bringing together the best-in-class video and data integrations, video analytics and Cloud solutions to address critical industry needs, according to the company.
“Delivering true customer value and business outcomes requires a strong customer-centric approach. Dedicated interactions with customers within these specific industries help us build industry-specific video technology solutions that go well beyond security,” says Jensen. “Milestone has the largest ecosystem of development and technology partners within and beyond the security industry, and we are uniquely positioned to work with market leaders to create solutions that address unique safety and operational needs for specific industries.”
Milestone’s data-driven video technology will be at the core of a new healthcare offering scheduled for release in 2023. The new healthcare solution is said to ensure patient and employee safety while protecting assets and property, with focused capabilities that meet healthcare’s unique compliance requirements and work environments.
Milestone says its new healthcare offering intends to:
- Improve patient care, outcome, and experience
- Maximize staff efficiency and ease hospital resource pains
- Expand situational awareness without additional staffing
Milestone’s XProtect open platform VMS currently supports more than 11,000 different security devices from more than 500 manufacturers. In addition, the company’s ecosystem of technology partners includes providers of network video cameras, Cloud services, storage equipment, access control, alarm and detection systems, video analytics, GPS technology, laser scanners, emergency call boxes, and much more.
