ISC West 2023 will be held March 28-31 at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas. Ahead of this year’s show, SSI heard from ProdataKey Marketing Director Brach Bengtzen about what the company will be showcasing at ISC West, top opportunities in the marketplace and more.
What is a leading product or offering your company is showing off at ISCW this year, and what makes it unique or special?
PDK is showing off several new offerings at ISCW. We’re leading with the Red Aux 8, a new input/output board that expands the footprint of PDK systems by extending support to auxiliary devices. It’s ideal for connecting elevators that require controls and monitoring on each floor. It also supports position sensors, motion sensors, alarm intrusion sensors and push buttons, using wet or dry contact relays via the board’s eight inputs and eight outputs. When connected to electric strikes and mag locks, Aux 8 brings access control to doors that don’t require a reader. Like all other Red controllers, it features auto-discovery and is compatible with our plug-in modules, giving it wireless or PoE++ connectivity.
Any other products or offerings would you like to highlight?
As I just mentioned, we now offer a PoE++ plug-in module that provides data and power over one Ethernet cable. It greatly simplifies installation; dealers can use it to support all of the electrified hardware in a PDK system.
We’ll also be showing off our new wristband credentials, which are perfect for schools, community centers, gyms, public pools and anywhere users don’t want to carry a phone, wallet or access card. They’re rugged, waterproof, attractive and comfortable to wear.
What else is new or noteworthy about the company for 2023?
We’ll be telling visitors at our booth about our new controller continuity, which we’re currently beta testing and very close to releasing. With controller continuity, every controller features an onboard database so that the system continues to fully function in case of a communication failure.
Also, we have several new integrations that we’re excited to talk about. My Video Intercom (MVI) solutions now sync directly with PDK’s database, allowing users to unlock PDK-secured doors through the MVI app. Data Display’s Lobby Tech is a visitor-management system that enables visitors to receive a QR code and gain temporary access. And, we’re now working with Turing, a cloud-based camera manufacturer. Our integration will seamlessly tie PDK events with corresponding video from the Turing cameras.
What is your company’s overall value proposition to security dealers/integrators? Why should they do business with you?
Everyone in this industry tries to deliver good products; that’s the norm. PDK is exceptional in our commitment to dealer partnership. We support our dealers through every process, listen to them, and let them choose the roadmap. We answer 80% of tech support calls in 20 seconds or less and have a first call resolution in less than seven minutes. That’s huge. That’s why dealers choose PDK and stay with us. Of course, they love our product too! But most importantly, we put their needs above everything else and empower them to succeed.
What do you see as some of the top opportunities in the marketplace right now?
The education market remains practically unlimited. We also see lots of opportunities to support 24/7 businesses that are popping up all over the place in various genres to support their members’ interests or hobbies. Some examples are gyms, studios, woodworking shops, “maker” labs, co-working spaces and indoor pickleball courts. These are businesses where the owner is usually not onsite and doesn’t have much or any staff. Members let themselves in and out 24/7 and use the facility’s equipment. A flexible and reliable access control system is fundamental for these businesses to operate successfully.
Anything else you would like to add?
The best way to keep up to date with what’s happening at PDK is to subscribe to our YouTube channel. Whenever we have a big announcement, we live stream and then post the broadcast for viewing on demand. It’s also a great way to learn about new features, integrations, industry trends, and the people behind our product. Be sure to check it out. I’m sure there will be plenty of “new” news to share by the time you’re reading this interview.
